Information Collection & Use
Benefits Screening Services
If SF Works provides you with benefits screening services, in order to connect you to community resources and public benefits, we may collect certain personally identifiable information such as information about your personal and household income, family size, public benefit history, tax history, and alimony history. In addition, in order to provide advice regarding certain tax matters, and/or to provide audit defense services, we may collect certain personally identifiable information such as information about your employment history and military background. Collectively, this information is known as “employee benefit information.” We may retain copies of such employee benefit information and use it internally to perform analysis relating to our employee benefits work, or to provide you with a copy of your benefits application for your convenience in the future.
We do not sell or rent employee benefit information to anyone. We do not share individual employee benefit information with anyone outside of SF Works without first obtaining your written authorization to release such information.
We may use service companies on our behalf to perform services for you but these companies are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes without your prior written authorization to do so.
We may access and/or disclose your information if it is necessary to comply with the law or legal process, to protect or defend SF Works, or act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of our employee benefit services or members of the public. For example, we may be required to cooperate with regulators or law enforcement action such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant.
SF Works’ Website
SF Works is the sole owner of the information collected on sfworks.org. SF Works collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on our website.

The security of your personal information is important to us. We work to protect your employee benefit information from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration by using industry-recognized security safeguards, coupled with carefully developed security procedures and practices.
